We have no special plans for Mother’s Day. I remember the days when my mom was alive and when my mother-in-law was ‘operational.’ As it turns out, the latter is turning 100 this June 13th. Mother’s Day was a big deal and we would usually have a dinner together. Father’s Day was the same way.
Now times have changed.
We are not sure what we are doing, although we know our youngest and his wife shall be coming over.
It might sound odd, but it is not. Every day in the Koerner household is Mother’s and Father’s Day! We are a family that celebrates all the birthdays and we get together, sometimes even without a good reason, other than that we enjoy spending time together. We are a part of our children’s lives and also of our grandchildren’s lives. Mary Kay will be asked what we are doing on Mother’s Day and she might say nothing special and she came up with the philosophy that every day is a Mother’s and Father’s Day celebration. She is so right!
On Saturday, we picked up some lovely flower baskets from Heinen’s with a kalanchoe and a baby, Canadian rose within for each of our ‘daughters.’ We delivered the two for those that we shall probably not see tomorrow.
We are blessed because I don’t know how many people have the wonderful situation that we do of being an active part of our children’s lives.
Happy Mother’s Day to all!
