Our sad times

These our are traditional Christmas cookies that we have enjoyed year after year, made by three people in our family.

It is hard, even if you are not a normally depressed person, to avoid being depressed.

It is hard witnessing a government that bases its actions on lack of logic, lies, and self-aggrandizement. It is hard watching the world literallly burn up because even supposedly civilized countries, like our own, seem to deny the ravages of climate change. Why are we being so self-destructive? Why have we not listened to history? Why are we not continuing to progress toward a more equal world? Why have we once again used the guise of religion to hide the evil that we are doing?

The day is sunny and if we were totally disconnected with the reality of the world situation, life would seem extremely beautiful. For many, life is good, but the question is, « How long can it last? »

We cannot continue to do things that destroy our natural resources as our world population grows and grows. The outlook is not good. I know that things often have to get worse before they get better, but this is ridiculous.

We have a cycle going here of world populist leaders who are doing the opposite of leading, they are instead putting us on a crash course with a negative world destiny. Is that what we have been headed for, a true, total destruction of the world community, an Armageddon different from the one that religions have foreseen?

Meanwhile, one must go on. Some days it is easier than others but the past few days have been tough. An evil person’s life was snuffed out and in doing so it appears that we are headed into a war, a war that will leave no one unscathed.

World leaders, isn’t it time to smell the coffee?
