Freezing cold, no dog walk, blue skies and sunny

The view this morning.

The view from the office window…

It was a tough wake up this morning.

We set the temps way back at night so as to have a cool upstairs and good sleeping in a bi-level. Normally, our son trips the Nest into action every morning but since he was sleeping in after being up all night because of snow plowing, that did not occur. This morning, it was me as I was up first and well, it was in the fifties in my house. It has taken a long time to get the temps up to normal but I am still cold.

I decided, since it is close to five degrees Fahrenheit, that I was not going to walk the dog. I may do that later when it is warmer.

Despite the day’s cold, it is beautiful out. I realized that it is one of the benefits of being where we are in the country. I was communicating with someone in England who was talking about how already the crocuses are blooming and the trees are budding, but in England, it is a rare winter day to have a blue sky and sun. He even told me that such a phenomenon is called a ‘Berliner,’ as it is know to happen in Berlin. We, here, do have our share of gray days, but we also have the freezing cold days with bright blue skies and sun.

Thrilled to hear, and I am probably one of the few here, that it is going to snow. Having a son with a snow removal business is part of it, I want him to recover from the bad snow years that preceded this season. I also don’t have a huge problem with snow and I even welcome a certain amount of snow removal via shoveling although I am still not happy with Apple for not having an activity for it.

Meanwhile, as I sip my lukewarm coffee, I ponder Zooming for tutoring this morning. I am still not as warm as I would like to be…

  1. Good work Rich… I am very happy with memories…Thank you very much…. because for me, as a history teacher is very important, like Herodotus in Greece when he said: It’s necessary to write about your lives in this moments because after a hundred years or 2 or 3, or 4 years…. how they will know how we live here and now. This is time… your history… you are smart because you are writing as we are living in this moment… Thank you very much…. Rich… you are on the right track.
