Knock me down, a poem

Knock me down

Gray
is
the
sky.

Gray is the feeling I have within me.

Bright
is
the
luminosity
of
the
day.

Bright is the opposite of what I feel and reminds me of that fact.

Cold
is
the
temperature
of
the
out
of
doors.

Cold is the feeling I have within me.

Wind
is
so
often
seen
in
Chicago.

Wind, accompanied by the gray, bright, and cold, cuts through me like a knife as I walk.

My emotional state
is stable
despite the
gray,
bright,
cold,
and wind
that I experience on a daily basis.

I want
to improve
but the
international,
national,
regional,
community,
and personal issues
knock me down as
never
before
and
getting
up
from
it
gets
harder
and
harder.

I
beg
for
peace.
